I had an idea inspired by lots of content creators around the globe, the idea is to delete content with the hopeful result of increased traffic.

I’ve heard of people doing this on their websites but there was one person who was interviewed on the Video Creators podcast who deleted loads of YouTube videos and their traffic went up.

“Hmmm”, I thought. “My YouTube channel has been all over the place over the last few years and my traffic and growth has been extremely slow, I wonder what would happen if I did that?”

So, I deleted all of my Logic tutorials and moved them onto a separate Logic Pro channel, then deleted all of my music videos and moved them onto a separate trailer music channel (this in itself is a bit of an experiment too, uploading my entire back catalogue of released tracks over the next year and seeing what happens).

This might be circumstantial evidence at this point but my most recent upload has gotten a lot more views more quickly which is positive news.

Even if it has no massive impact on my growth it has given me a lot of clarity with regards to the ‘buckets’ of content that I am working on.

I now know that my YouTube channel is only music tutorials, anything else I want to create has its own channel which hopefully will mean that new and old viewers know what they are going to get from me (much like my Trailer Music School Channel).

That clarity is worth every moment of time it has taken - it feels like I have tidied my YouTube room. Ahhhhhh…

🎧 I’m Listening To…

I’m still on a bit of a memory trip at the moment, and I am loving resisting one of my favourite albums of all time, Whatever and Ever Amen by Ben Folds Five. One Angry Dwarf is a particular highlight!

📺 I’m Watching…

The Barbie Movie is absolutely hilarious and actually a brilliant commentary on the imbalance between the sexes. This had me in stitches, especially the “beach you off” scene 🤣

🌟 Write Piano Music Like Philip Glass

Philip Glass has been a tremendous influence on my creative career so it is an honour and a pleasure to break down some of his compositional techniques for you.

I sampled a bass trombone and euphonium and turned them into lush, cinematic brass pads.
