Hey Guys

I hope you had a good week.

I’ve been watching Van Neistat’s YouTube videos, The Spirited Man, and I am obsessed.

It’s the type of videos I absolutely love; life’s simple things told by someone who deeply understands storytelling.

It’s the type of video that makes me want to stare out of the window with a typewriter and (try to) write stories about my everyday life and make it sound exciting.

I guess it is what I strive for anyway with most of my output; a creative response to life.

Isn’t that what music is? Creating as a way to give order to our lives?

Maybe that’s just me.

It All Plays In Slow Motion

It All Plays In Slow Motion - released on all major streaming platforms May 24th

It’s been a long time since This Shimmering Sky’s last release, but I finally got my act together to release another.

I decided to go for a 60 minute long track, pure unadulterated ambient instrumental.

For those who don’t know, This Shimmering Sky is one of my side projects. I write relaxing ambient music because I love it.

It is also the only project that I have gotten any real traction with on the streaming platforms with the single ‘Walk Among The Leaves’ now surpassing 2 million streams (thanks Apple Music).

This music was a creative release for me. I wrote about 70 tracks when my youngest was born and whilst I was on paternity leave.

Once I had gotten her down for the night, I would go to my study and write ambient music. It was my way of finding a balance between a sleeping baby and the in built desire to create.

1983 is RELEASED

Soooooo excited to see that 1983 is out now and ready for your ears! (don’t know why Spotify insists on making the embed thingy so massive)

Sometimes it is all just too much!

I wanted to talk about ways in which I recover from my (probably too regular) bouts of overwhelm.

I know it’s not something that is often talked about but I did want to address the fact that with all the stimuli, things to do, and general noise around us, sometimes it just feels all too much.

I hope this little video helps you (even just a little).

I hope you have a great weekend chaps and thank you so much for reading/listening/watching,

You are absolute legends,

Rich
