Blown around like a leaf in the wind
When everything everyone else is doing distracts you from your own goals

As I mentioned in my last post, I am going to launch head-first into building my own record label - the thing about doing stuff that makes you feel scared is that you can be very easily dissuaded from taking action.
On a (almost) daily basis for the last year or so, I feel like I have been making decisions as to my business strategy, only to hear someone be disparaging about it the next day. At which point, I then feel like I am making the wrong choice and wasting my time.
Cue the fear and self-doubt.
The same is happening just days after posting about my record label. I keep hearing/watching YouTubers selling their idea of the “right” course of action:
- Sell courses
- Don’t sell courses, sell a membership
- Start a newsletter business
- Start a podcast
- Do high-ticket consulting
- Do the things that bring in 80% of your income
- Do free content for the ad revenue
- Do sponsored content for the sponsorship
- The list goes on…
Today I fell into an Instagram doom scroll and felt completely inadequate and like I am not doing anything worthwhile because I don’t have well-edited videos with loads of subscribers and views.
My brain and self-belief immediately go out the window, and I start to think that I am on a fool’s errand.

Time to Take Stock, Rich
It is at this point that I need to remind myself what I want ⤵️
Just writing that has made me feel better.
This is why it is always a good thing to remind yourself of what it is that you want so that you stay in your lane.
What I did today despite this wobble
I wrote a little piano waltz for my classical project, Nembis.
I also started a new track for my dark-epic-folk-rock project, PRYN. This track is all about feeling rubbish as a result of social media!
Happy composing!Rich
